Going downhill never felt better.

As filmmakers, we are always looking for the next project that will challenge our storytelling abilities. Sometimes the challenge consists of explaining in simple terms the inner workings of a highly specific tech product, or from creating a visual representation of a complex concept in a way that is appealing to the end consumer.

When the nice fellows of Verispellis skis and snowboards approached us to shoot a series of videos for their Kickstarter campaign we were very excited. We were presented with a great looking product, that was ready for prime time, and just about everyone who heard about how it works, and what it can do for your skiing experience wanted to buy a pair on the spot.

Things are going great so far, awesome client, great looking product, and a brand new technology that people couldn’t wait to get their hands on! Someone pinch me please, this must be a dream. Well, it was a sweet gig alright, but we woke up from the dream the moment that we realized we would have to shoot a ski commercial, at a top-notch ski resort operating very expensive equipment, but no one on the team could actually ski. But fear not, we weren’t about to let such a small detail stop us from capturing some amazing downhill ski action. I mean, how hard could it be right?

As it turned out, VERY hard!. I’m not at liberty to disclose all the details of that fateful day, but let’s just say that a team of three men on the wrong side of 30 went up those NH snowy hills, full of enthusiasm and trepidation, and 4 hours later we came back with great footage and all the bumps and bruises that you would imagine and then some. The client was really happy with the deliverables, so at the end of the day, it was all worth it. It’s not that we wouldn’t do it again, but we could definitely use a shoot at a nice beach resort after this one.
